Utah State Capital Family Session
The Utah State Capital was the perfect backdrop for the McAdam’s family session. Its stunning architecture provided a striking contrast to the family’s vibrant outfits. Luckily, we found the area relatively quiet (which I feel like is never the case at the capital building), allowing us to focus on capturing their joyful moments without distraction.
I photographed this family session in July of 2023. I was in Utah for an elopement content retreat and I was pretty close to Salt Lake City! Lynzi is actually my sister-in-law, so I was able to catch up with them and take their precious family photos. They wanted some updated family photos since they just welcomed their baby girl earlier that year! They also have the cutest little boy.
Traveling is one of my favorite things so the fact that I got to travel to a new place to capture the McAdams family session was so much fun! I love starting out a session getting the necessary shots and then moving on to fun prompts, especially if the family has little ones. One of my favorite prompts during the session involved swinging and playful walking, which brought out the children’s natural smiles. The photos radiated love and playfulness!
The family chose a color palette of oranges, tans, and blues, which complemented the Capitol’s white architecture beautifully. To ensure families look their best, I always provide a style guide to help them pick the best outfits that will suit their whole family!
A Joyful Experience
As their photographer, I strive to make family sessions enjoyable and effortless, even with little ones. Lynzi shared, “Jessica is amazing! She makes taking pictures with my little family so easy, and that can be hard with 2 little ones!” This feedback truly warms my heart and motivates me to keep capturing these precious moments.
The McAdams family session was a joy, and I’m thrilled to have helped them create memories that will last a lifetime.
